Café Gratitude just added a fifth location in Newport Beach, Ca. so if you are looking for a creative way to enjoy an organic, plant-based meal, then this restaurant will give you something to be grateful for. It’s healthy dining with a modern, trendy and positive attitude.

Café Gratitude offers a light and airy indoor/outdoor space and a menu that encourages you to order in a very affirming way.  Feel like having the blackened tempeh Caesar wrap called Glorious?  Then you’ll be encouraged to tell the waiter “I am Glorious” to place your order.  Feels a bit like a throwback to the 60’s, but it’s all part of their mission . . . expressing Gratitude for the richness of our lives. Their food is 100% organic and their restaurant is committed to supporting local farmers, sustainable agriculture and environmentally friendly products.

Now, let’s get to the heart of the matter and talk about the food! What I love most about this restaurant is that everything is organic and unexpected. The “Charismatic” chai latte is a welcome break from the sugar laden versions corporate coffee shops sell. It’s as close as I’ve found to the masala chai I drank in India.  The “Liberated” pad-thai kelp noodles with Thai almond sauce, with shredded kale and tamari almonds, tops my list of favorites.  “Glorious” and “Happy” will make your taste buds agree and if you like brussels sprouts, then don’t leave without “Ecstatic” finding its way to your table. “Yo Soy Supremo” is the healthiest breakfast burrito you’ll find and full of flavor, too.  If you are feeling “Free”, the chia seed porridge combines chia seeds, maca, cinnamon, lucuma, hempseeds, gogi berries, maple syrup and fresh fruit in a chilled combination that gives you protein and nutrients in a pudding that tastes more like dessert. And if dessert is your thing (it is certainly mine) then “Kind” is worth a try.

You don’t have to be a die-hard vegan to like the offerings at Café Gratitude. Anyone trying to put healthier food on their plate should give it a try, but if vegan food is new to you, then go in with an open mind and you’ll be surprised how good plant based eating can be. They already have a loyal following in LA and San Diego and now healthy eaters in Orange County don’t have to drive so far to enjoy Café Gratitude’s tasty, creative, vegan meals.
